Understanding Microprocessor Relay Logic – A Brief History of Relays

We have uploaded our first YouTube videoUnderstanding Microprocessor Relay Logic – A Brief History of Relays. (http://youtu.be/q_E_Gv_9_LQ) This video talks about the history of microprocessor relays and why our test routines need to change as the protective relay technology changes.

This video series is a re-creation of the first paper I ever presented from the NETA conference in 2001 that was the foundation of The Relay Testing Handbook series.

The video describes the pros and cons of each generation of relay including:

  • Electro-mechanical Relays
  • Solid-State Relays
  • Microprocessor Relays

We’ve learned a lot about the YouTube format while creating this series and, unfortunately, it turns out converting PowerPoint to video is a little dry. Future video series will be much better.

We hope you found this video informative and hope you’ll stick with us as we get better with each series.
