Locating fault in the PILOT WIRE between substations
Is there any method to locate the fault in the PILOT wire which normally available in substations? The cross sectional area may be very small about 6 sq mm and is having DC 220- 250 V.
Please suggest some method or instrument

i don’t know if power fault detection instrument will work with pilot wire cores ! but i will recommend that you try this method to find out location of the fault. measure resistance R of faulted core where this resistance will not represent all wire , only portion to fault touching earth point will be calculated. then you can find easily the length to the fault by formula R=u*L / A
u= resistevity of cooper
A= cross-section area which is 6mm ( convert to meter )
R= resistance obtained by ohmeter
L = length in meters
this is a try and i hope engineers discuss this point before you consider any action
